The Department of Biology at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled “Algal Biodiversity and Its Importance in Ecosystems” on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The workshop was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Zainab Nazim Aziz as part of the scientific activities aimed at enhancing students’ environmental knowledge. The workshop aimed to introduce algal biodiversity, explain its importance in ecosystems, and highlight its role in maintaining ecological balance and contributing to oxygen production, as well as its interactions with living organisms and aquatic environments. The workshop included a scientific presentation addressing the types, characteristics, and ecological significance of algae, with an explanation of their role in sustaining ecosystems. The presentation contributed to raising students’ scientific awareness of the importance of these organisms in maintaining ecological balance. This workshop is part of the Department of Biology’s efforts to promote environmental awareness and develop students’ scientific knowledge, supporting a deeper understanding of biodiversity and the importance of ecosystem conservation.
