As part of its efforts to strengthen practical engineering skills and connect fundamental engineering sciences with biomedical applications, the Biomedical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, has prepared and printed a comprehensive educational poster entitled “Welding Techniques, Engineering Symbols, and Their Applications in Biomedical Engineering.”
About the Activity and Organizing Team:
The activity was prepared and implemented under the supervision of:
* Asst. Lecturer Fatima Rahim Abbas
* Engineer Mohammed Abdul Kareem Razouqi
* Programmer Zahraa Abed Zaid Abdul Abbas
This scientific activity aims to enhance students’ engineering knowledge, develop their design skills and scientific visual communication abilities, and encourage innovation through the application of engineering manufacturing technologies to support and advance the healthcare sector.
Poster Content and Scientific Topics:
The educational poster presents simplified and comprehensive engineering information, including:
* An overview of various welding techniques and the standardized engineering symbols used in technical drawings and manufacturing plans.
* Highlighting the importance of welding in manufacturing the strong metal structures and components of medical devices and equipment, such as hospital beds, operating room trolleys, and rehabilitation devices.
* Explaining the role of these techniques in supporting local manufacturing and precision engineering maintenance, thereby ensuring the efficiency and continuous operation of medical technology in healthcare institutions.
The publication of this poster is part of the educational resources adopted by the university to reinforce theoretical concepts and transform them into lasting visual learning materials that enrich the academic environment with modern educational resources.
Activity Objectives in Line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
This scientific activity directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the university:
* SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being — By contributing to the quality and safety of the metal structures used in medical devices for patient care.
* SDG 4: Quality Education — By enriching the university environment with visual educational resources that enhance students’ engineering and design skills.
* SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure — By promoting local manufacturing expertise and mechanical engineering skills that support the development of medical device infrastructure.
