Islamization of Thought: Theoretical Foundations and Paths of Application
The issue of the Islamization of Thought, or the Islamization of Knowledge, is considered one of the most prominent intellectual and reformist projects in the contemporary Islamic world. It emerged as a civilizational response to the challenges resulting from Western dominance over various fields of the humanities and social sciences. The Islamization of Thought does not merely seek to give modern knowledge a superficial religious character; rather, its fundamental objective is to reconstruct the epistemological framework in a way that connects the humanities and applied sciences with the Islamic worldview. This approach assumes that human sciences and knowledge are not entirely neutral but are influenced by the cultures and ideologies of those who produce them. Therefore, developing knowledge based on the principle of monotheism (Tawhid) and Islamic values is viewed as a civilizational necessity for restoring the intellectual and cultural independence of Muslim societies.
