The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdy, participated in the Mediterranean Universities Union General Assembly (UNIMED General Assembly 2026), hosted by the University of Barcelona in Spain on October 7–8, 2026. The assembly coincided with the 35th anniversary of UNIMED's establishment, featuring extensive participation from university presidents and academic leaders across the Euro-Mediterranean region and Europe.The summit featured the discussion and adoption of UNIMED's strategic priority areas aimed at advancing higher education and scientific research. Discussions centered on higher education governance, digital transformation, intercultural dialogue, enhancing graduate employability, sustaining education during crises and emergencies, and driving sustainable development initiatives.Furthermore, specialized sessions reviewed proposals for the upcoming Erasmus+ 2028–2034 framework and mechanisms to expand student and staff mobility actions, alongside capacity building, master’s scholarships, and Jean Monnet Actions. This engagement underscores Al-Mustaqbal University's global standing as the only private university in Iraq to secure a 100% directly funded Jean Monnet grant from the European Commission.During his participation, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdy reaffirmed Al-Mustaqbal University's commitment to proactive international partnerships and embedding top-tier academic practices, thereby solidifying the university's presence in global academic forums and advancing national higher education objectives.
