Al-Mustaqbal University Strengthens Its International Research Presence at the Arab Network Conference in Cairo and Expands Partnerships in AI and Scientific Publishing

Al-Mustaqbal University demonstrated a distinguished academic and regional presence through its active participation in the first day of the First Conference of the Arab Network of Scientific Research Centres, hosted by the National Research Centre in Cairo, Egypt. The University was represented by the Director of the Future Centre for Artificial Intelligence Applications, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Manea, amid broad Arab participation that brought together representatives from approximately ten Arab countries and more than 76 research centres from across the Arab world, with the aim of opening new pathways for sustainable academic partnerships. The first day of the conference featured an intensive academic programme comprising a series of scientific sessions and specialised lectures. The opening lecture addressed “The Arab Ranking of Research Centres,” presented by Prof. Dr. Yasser Refaat, Adviser to the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education, in collaboration with Dr. Mohamed Al-Essali from global organisation Elsevier, focusing on emerging trends in performance assessment. This was followed by a presentation on the innovation ecosystem in the Arab world, delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Ibrahim from Elsevier. Digital technologies also featured prominently through the lecture “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Scientific Research and Innovation,” delivered by Dr. Ayman Aqeel, Director of the Consulting Department at Clarivate. On the sidelines of the conference, the University delegation held a series of extensive bilateral meetings with leaders of international institutions and cross-border research networks to expand cooperation in joint publishing and digital capacity building. The University Presidency affirmed that this regional engagement represents an important strategic step towards connecting the Future Centre for Artificial Intelligence Applications with international knowledge networks and transforming intelligent technologies into practical, real-world solutions. It further emphasised that the University’s scientific strategy is founded on early international engagement, data integration, and the activation of high-value partnerships, thereby supporting the production of rigorous applied research capable of generating tangible impact and reinforcing Al-Mustaqbal University’s leading position as the top private university in Iraq within contemporary international indicators and rankings.
