Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new milestone in the field of university sustainability, ranking first among private universities in Iraq and third nationally in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026, which included 92 Iraqi universities and colleges. The University achieved a score of 8,475 out of 10,000 points, demonstrating strong performance across the various assessment categories and reflecting its integrated institutional approach to implementing sustainability principles and promoting sustainable practices throughout the university campus. In a notable achievement, Al-Mustaqbal University ranked first in Iraq and 23rd globally in the Water category, after achieving a full score. This accomplishment reflects the University’s commitment to efficient water resource management, rationalizing consumption, and adopting sustainable practices to ensure the responsible use of this vital resource. The University also recorded advanced results across several key categories of the ranking, including Education and Research, Waste Management, Energy and Climate Change, Governance and Digitalization, Transportation, and Infrastructure. These results highlight the comprehensive scope of sustainability practices implemented across the University’s academic, administrative, environmental, and developmental activities. This achievement reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to establishing sustainability as an integrated institutional practice that extends beyond individual initiatives to become an essential component of planning, development, research, education, and university services.
