Al-Mustaqbal University Achieves Global Recognition in the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings

Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new academic and scientific milestone by making its first-ever appearance in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027 (THE WUR 2027), joining the list of globally ranked universities in the 1201–1400 band. This achievement reflects the university’s continued development in academic and research performance and strengthens its presence on the international higher education stage. The university’s inclusion comes within a ranking that encompasses 2,297 universities from 118 countries and regions. Al-Mustaqbal University ranked second among Iraqi universities outside the Kurdistan Region and fourth when universities in the Kurdistan Region are included, while also ranking first among Iraqi private universities. This achievement represents an important milestone in the university’s academic and scientific journey. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is based on a range of international indicators and criteria that assess university performance across several key areas, including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook, providing a comprehensive framework for evaluating academic and research performance at the global level. At the level of individual ranking indicators, Al-Mustaqbal University ranked second in Iraq in the International Outlook indicator, fifth in the Research Environment indicator, and sixth in the Research Quality indicator. These results reflect the university’s growing research activity, expanding international academic partnerships, and developing educational and research environment. On this occasion, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, congratulated the university’s faculty members, staff, and students on this achievement. He commended the continuous efforts of the university’s academic, administrative, and research units, which contributed to achieving this global recognition and strengthening the university’s position in international rankings. The University President emphasized that this achievement is the result of the integration of academic, research, and administrative efforts, as well as investment in educational quality, support for scientific research and international publication, and the expansion of academic partnerships and cooperation with universities and institutions worldwide. Al-Mustaqbal University’s entry into the THE World University Rankings 2027 comes as part of its ongoing efforts to develop its academic and research system, strengthen its international outlook, and improve institutional performance indicators. These efforts are aligned with its vision of building a sustainable university and enhancing the presence of Iraqi higher education in international forums and global university rankings.
