Artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the technologies with a significant impact on various aspects of life and work. One of the sectors that has increasingly benefited from AI is the banking sector. Banks deal with large numbers of customers, transactions, and data on a daily basis. Therefore, they have increasingly needed modern tools that help them organize their operations and provide services more quickly and efficiently. The use of artificial intelligence in banking represents an important development in financial and banking management, as it can help analyze data, improve customer service, detect certain unusual transactions, and support management in decision-making. From a managerial perspective, the importance of artificial intelligence is not limited to the technological dimension. It also extends to the way work is organized, resources are managed, and the quality of services provided by banking institutions is improved. First: The Concept of Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence refers to a set of technologies that enable systems and software to analyze information, learn from data, and perform certain tasks that would normally require human intervention. AI has become widely used in various fields, including customer service, data analysis, and cybersecurity. The banking sector is among the areas that can benefit from these technologies because banking operations rely heavily on information and data. Second: The Importance of Artificial Intelligence in Banking Banks require speed and accuracy in processing transactions, and any error or delay can affect customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Artificial intelligence can help banks improve certain processes by analyzing data rapidly, reducing the time spent on routine tasks, and providing tools that assist employees and management in carrying out their responsibilities. The use of modern technologies can also help banks develop their services and keep pace with changes in customer needs. Third: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Banking 1. Customer Service Artificial intelligence can be used to develop electronic assistance programs that answer customer questions and provide information related to banking services. This can reduce the time customers need to obtain answers, particularly for frequently asked questions. 2. Detection of Suspicious Transactions One of the important applications of artificial intelligence is the analysis of financial transactions and the identification of unusual patterns. When a transaction differs significantly from the normal pattern, AI-based systems can help alert the relevant authorities so that the transaction can be reviewed. This does not necessarily mean that the system makes the final decision. Rather, it can serve as a tool that assists specialized employees in monitoring and oversight processes. 3. Data Analysis Banks possess large amounts of data relating to customers, accounts, and transactions. Artificial intelligence can be used to analyze this data and extract information that helps management understand customer needs and develop banking services. 4. Assistance in Risk Management Banks face various types of risks and therefore require accurate information to help management assess these risks. Artificial intelligence can serve as a supporting tool for analyzing data and identifying certain indicators that require further review by specialists. 5. Development of Electronic Banking Services Electronic banking services have become an important part of customers’ interactions with banks, including mobile banking applications and electronic payment services. Artificial intelligence can help develop these services and make them more user-friendly and accessible. Fourth: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Banking Management From a business-management perspective, artificial intelligence can help management obtain and analyze information more quickly. Managers need information in order to plan and make decisions. The more organized and accurate the information is, the more decision-making can rely on data. AI can also be used for certain routine tasks, giving employees more time to perform activities that require customer interaction, critical thinking, and analysis. Therefore, the use of artificial intelligence does not mean eliminating employees. Rather, it can serve as a tool that helps them perform their work more effectively. Fifth: Benefits of Artificial Intelligence for Banks and Customers The use of artificial intelligence can provide a number of benefits, including: Faster delivery of certain banking services. Reduced time and effort spent on routine tasks. Improved customer service. Assistance in detecting unusual transactions. Improved data analysis. Support for management in decision-making. Development of electronic banking services. Assistance in risk management. For customers, the benefits may include faster and easier access to services, as well as the availability of certain electronic services at different times without always having to visit a bank branch. Sixth: Challenges Facing the Use of Artificial Intelligence Despite the benefits that artificial intelligence can provide, there are several challenges that must be taken into consideration. One of the most important challenges is protecting customer data, as banks handle sensitive financial and personal information. Cybersecurity has also become a fundamental concern as reliance on digital systems increases. Banks also need employees who have knowledge of modern technologies. Therefore, staff training is an important requirement when introducing any new system. Another challenge is the possibility of inaccurate results if the data used by the system is incorrect or insufficient. For this reason, continuous monitoring and review by specialists are necessary. Seventh: The Role of Employees in the Era of Artificial Intelligence In my view, it is important not to regard artificial intelligence as a complete replacement for employees, because banking operations require human involvement in many areas, particularly customer interaction, certain decision-making processes, and the handling of special cases. Artificial intelligence can assist employees in obtaining and analyzing information and completing certain routine tasks, while employees continue to play an important role in monitoring operations and ensuring that procedures are carried out correctly. This requires employees in the banking sector to develop their skills and become familiar with modern technologies so that they can effectively interact with and benefit from these technologies in their work. Eighth: Artificial Intelligence and the Al-Mustaqbal of Banking The use of artificial intelligence in the banking sector is expected to increase as technology advances and reliance on electronic services grows. This may include the development of banking applications, improvement of customer service, data analysis, fraud detection, and assistance in risk management. However, the successful adoption of artificial intelligence depends on the availability of appropriate technological infrastructure, qualified and trained personnel, effective data protection, and clear regulations governing the use of these technologies. Recommendations Based on the foregoing, a number of recommendations can be made, including: Encouraging banks to benefit from artificial intelligence technologies in developing their services. Training employees to use modern systems and technologies. Giving greater attention to protecting customer data and banking information. Continuously developing cybersecurity systems. Using artificial intelligence as a supporting tool for employees and management. Ensuring the accuracy of the data used in intelligent systems. Developing electronic banking services in accordance with customer needs. Conducting continuous studies to assess the extent to which banks and customers benefit from artificial intelligence applications. Conclusion Artificial intelligence has become an important technology that can contribute to the development of the banking sector and improve the way services are delivered. It can assist in data analysis, the development of electronic services, the improvement of customer service, the detection of unusual transactions, and risk management. From a managerial perspective, artificial intelligence can provide information and tools that help management and employees perform their duties more efficiently. Nevertheless, benefiting from these technologies requires close attention to information security, employee training, and continuous monitoring of AI systems. Ultimately, the Al-Mustaqbal of banking is likely to become increasingly connected to technology and artificial intelligence. Therefore, it is important for banking institutions and their employees to prepare for this stage by developing their skills and services and by adopting modern technologies in a secure and well-planned manner.
