The Department of Biology at Al-Mustaqbal University enhanced the scientific knowledge of fourth-stage students today, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, through a theoretical lecture on Chordates, supervised by Lecturer M.M. Tharaa Habib Khudair. The lecture was held in the Humanities Building as part of the first semester of the academic year 2026–2027, in accordance with the department’s approved academic plan. The lecture aimed to develop students’ scientific knowledge of the phylum Chordata and introduce them to its main distinguishing characteristics, contributing to a better understanding of animal diversity and taxonomic classification within this phylum. The lecture introduced the phylum Chordata and its main characteristics, while explaining its classification into major subphyla based on the degree of development of the notochord, skull, and vertebral column. It also reviewed the subphyla Urochordata, Cephalochordata, and Vertebrata, highlighting the main characteristics of each group. The lecture strengthened student interaction through discussions of the scientific topics presented and addressing their inquiries, contributing to consolidating scientific information and deepening their understanding of the concepts related to the subject. The organization of the lecture supports the Department of Biology’s efforts to implement the prescribed curriculum and enhance the scientific and specialized knowledge of fourth-stage students in line with the approved academic plan.
