Al-Mustaqbal University witnessed the conclusion of the specialized international training and educational workshop on Erasmus+ programmes and opportunities , The workshop was organized by the European Union Delegation to Iraq in coordination and cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organizations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, alongside representatives and delegation heads from public and private universities across the Middle Euphrates region. The third and final day of the workshop featured intensive training and discussion sessions focusing on Erasmus Mundus opportunities available to Iraqi students and academics, key application requirements, and the fundamentals of building academic partnerships and developing proposals for joint master’s programmes and virtual exchange initiatives. Discussions also addressed mechanisms for activating International Credit Mobility (ICM), managing the financial and administrative aspects of European-funded projects, and applying for the prestigious Jean Monnet grants. The closing sessions highlighted practical steps to enhance the readiness of Iraqi universities to develop competitive project proposals capable of addressing current challenges. During the closing session, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi emphasized the importance of moving beyond awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities toward their practical implementation through sustainable international projects. He noted that hosting this international event reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic vision to advance the internationalization of Iraqi higher education and to empower academic staff and students in the Middle Euphrates region to engage with distinguished European academic and research experiences.
