Al Mustaqbal University concluded the activities of a specialized training workshop on Erasmus+ programs and grants, organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Iraq in cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organizations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop was attended by representatives of a number of public and private universities in the Al-Furat Al-Awsat region, in the presence of the President of Al Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi. The final day of the workshop featured a series of training and discussion sessions focusing on ways to benefit from European Union programs in supporting higher education and strengthening international academic cooperation. The sessions also introduced Erasmus Mundus opportunities available to students and teaching staff, as well as mechanisms for establishing university partnerships and preparing proposals for joint academic programs. The workshop also addressed mechanisms for enhancing the readiness of Iraqi universities to participate in international projects, the role of academic institutions in supporting students and researchers interested in applying for European grants and programs, and the key challenges universities face when preparing competitive project proposals, along with practical approaches to addressing them. During his attendance at part of the final-day activities, the President of Al Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, emphasized the importance of transforming knowledge of Erasmus+ programs into practical steps that lead to establishing effective academic and research partnerships. He also highlighted the importance of utilizing these programs to develop institutional capacities and strengthen the presence of Iraqi universities within international academic cooperation initiatives. Held over three days, the workshop covered several topics related to International Credit Mobility (ICM) and student exchanges, the administrative and financial aspects of European projects, mechanisms for applying for Jean Monnet grants, as well as developing international projects and proposals and enhancing the institutional capacities of universities. Al Mustaqbal University’s hosting of this workshop comes as part of its commitment to strengthening international academic engagement and expanding cooperation with global institutions and universities. It also aims to provide universities in the Al-Furat Al-Awsat region with knowledge and expertise related to European programs, supporting the development of joint projects and creating new opportunities for cooperation in education and scientific research.
