Al Mustaqbal University hosted a specialised training workshop on Erasmus+ programmes, organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Iraq in cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organisations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop brought together representatives from a number of public and private universities in the Middle Euphrates region, with the aim of introducing participants to the programme’s opportunities and mechanisms for developing competitive academic and institutional projects. The workshop was attended by Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al Mustaqbal University; Professor Dr. Muwaffaq Sajit, Director of the Department of International and Arab Organisations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; and Ms. Asmaa Al-Sammadi, Projects Manager at the National Erasmus+ Office in Jordan. It was also attended by a number of cultural relations officials, Erasmus+ coordinators, college deans, and department heads, including Professor Dr. Ahmed Adnan Al-Khafaji, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs. The workshop addressed a range of topics related to the application mechanisms for Erasmus+ grants, approaches to developing project proposals and enhancing their competitiveness for funding, as well as opportunities for academic cooperation, knowledge exchange, and building partnerships between Iraqi higher education institutions and their international counterparts. At the opening of the workshop, Al Mustaqbal University welcomed the participating delegations and emphasised the importance of such programmes in strengthening institutional capacities and expanding international cooperation in education and scientific research. The university highlighted the opportunities these programmes provide for Iraqi universities to participate in international academic initiatives and projects. For his part, Professor Dr. Muwaffaq Sajit highlighted the importance of the workshop in introducing Iraqi universities to the opportunities available through European Union programmes and supporting them in developing academic and research projects that meet international programme requirements. He also emphasised the role of such initiatives in advancing the internationalisation of higher education and expanding international academic partnerships. Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi also noted that hosting the workshop reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening its participation in international cooperation programmes and developing the skills of its academic and administrative staff in international project management. He stressed the importance of transforming opportunities for cooperation and funding into impactful and sustainable academic and scientific projects. The three-day workshop includes a series of training and practical sessions aimed at developing participants’ skills in preparing project proposals, understanding application requirements, and making effective use of Erasmus+ opportunities. It also provides a platform for exchanging expertise and fostering communication among participating universities .Through hosting this workshop, Al Mustaqbal University reaffirms its continued support for international initiatives and academic cooperation, while promoting an environment that contributes to institutional capacity building and creates new opportunities for students, researchers, and academic staff to participate in international programmes and partnerships.
