The second day of the development course for students of the College of Science – Department of Forensic Evidence at Al-Mustaqbal University commenced on Sunday at Al-Razi University in Kermanshah, Iran, with the participation of 12 students and under the supervision and follow-up of faculty members from the department. The second-day program included an intensive four-hour academic and practical training session focusing on modern genetic and microbiological approaches in forensic investigations. The program featured specialized lectures and direct laboratory applications aimed at enhancing the students’ scientific knowledge and practical skills. The activities included a lecture entitled “DNA Analysis and Its Applications in Forensic Investigations,” which addressed DNA analysis techniques and their latest scientific applications in forensic investigations. The lecture was accompanied by practical laboratory experiments conducted inside the specialized DNA laboratory at Al-Razi University, where the students received hands-on training in DNA extraction, examination, and analysis using modern and advanced laboratory equipment and techniques. The program also included a break during which the students exchanged views and discussed the results obtained from the laboratory experiments before attending the second lecture, entitled “Forensic Microbiology and Biological Traces in Crime Scene Investigation.” The lecture focused on forensic microbiology and the methods used to handle and analyze microscopic biological traces collected from crime scenes. The 12 participating students continued to demonstrate distinguished scientific engagement and direct involvement in laboratory applications and experiments under the supervision and follow-up of Prof. Dr. Dhirgham Ali Abbas, Head of the Department of Forensic Evidence, and Lecturer Dr. Maytham Nabil Miqdad, Coordinator and Supervisor of the delegation. The training contributes to developing their specialized knowledge and strengthening their practical skills in the field of forensic evidence. The activities of the second day received positive recognition from professors and expert lecturers at Al-Razi University, who praised the high scientific and practical level demonstrated by the students of Al-Mustaqbal University, as well as their active participation and strong interest in the scientific content and advanced laboratory applications. This development course is part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to support academic development and practical training for its students, strengthen scientific cooperation, and facilitate the exchange of expertise with universities and academic institutions, contributing to the preparation of graduates equipped with the scientific knowledge and practical skills required in their specialized fields.
