The second day of the development course organized for students of the College of Science, Department of Forensic Evidence at Al-Mustaqbal University, was held at Al-Razi University in Kermanshah, Iran. The program focuses on developing students’ scientific and practical skills in forensic science, genetics, and microbiology. The second day of the program included four hours of academic and practical training, covering specialized topics related to DNA analysis techniques and their applications in forensic investigations, in addition to forensic microbiology and the handling of biological traces at crime scenes. The program began with a scientific lecture and laboratory applications from 8:00 to 9:45 a.m., entitled: “DNA Analysis and Its Applications in Forensic Investigations” The lecture addressed the scientific principles and modern techniques used in DNA analysis and their applications in forensic investigations. The session also featured practical training inside Al-Razi University’s specialized DNA laboratory, where students received hands-on training in DNA extraction, sample examination, and analysis using modern laboratory equipment and technologies under the supervision of specialists from the host university. A break was scheduled from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m., providing an opportunity for participants to exchange scientific observations and discuss the findings and outcomes of the laboratory applications. The program concluded with a second scientific lecture, held from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., entitled: “Forensic Microbiology and Biological Traces in Crime Scene Investigation” The lecture addressed specialized topics in forensic microbiology, with a focus on the procedures used to handle and analyze biological traces and samples as part of crime scene investigations. A total of 12 students from the Department of Forensic Evidence are participating in the course, attending lectures and practical training sessions and engaging in laboratory applications throughout the program. The delegation is supervised and followed up by Prof. Dr. Dhirgham Ali Abbas, Head of the Department of Forensic Evidence, and Lecturer Dr. Maytham Nabeel Miqdad, the delegation coordinator and supervisor. The course is part of the university’s efforts to strengthen the practical skills of students in the Department of Forensic Evidence and provide them with opportunities to train in specialized laboratories and gain exposure to modern techniques used in genetic analysis and forensic microbiology.
