Industrial College Technologies Department Holds an Online Workshop Entitled “Academic Plagiarism: Concepts, Detection, and Prevention”

The Industrial College Technologies Department at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Mustaqbal University, held a scientific online workshop entitled “Academic Plagiarism: Concepts, Detection, and Prevention,” delivered by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Younis Abdul Ridha Al-Khafaji, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. The workshop addressed the concept of academic plagiarism as one of the key issues related to research ethics and academic integrity. It also reviewed its most common forms and manifestations and highlighted its impact on the quality of scientific output and the credibility of academic research. The workshop further discussed the methods and tools used to detect cases of plagiarism, in addition to examining preventive measures that researchers and students can adopt to reduce such practices and strengthen adherence to proper academic citation and scholarly writing standards. The workshop emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of academic integrity and adhering to ethical standards when preparing research and academic projects. Such practices contribute to improving the quality of academic outcomes and advancing the quality of scientific research within the university environment, while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. The workshop was held as part of the efforts of the Industrial College Technologies Department at Al-Mustaqbal University to raise awareness of sound academic practices, support scientific and research development, and promote a culture of academic integrity in accordance with quality standards in higher education institutions.
