The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Saleh Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi, praised the distinguished academic experience of Al-Mustaqbal University in sending students from various disciplines to British universities and academic institutions for summer training, describing it as a unique and pioneering experience among Iraqi universities. This came during a visit by a delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University, headed by the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, to the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London, where he met with Ambassador Al-Tamimi in the presence of Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies; Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, Cultural Counselor in London; Dr. Wissam Al-Furaiji, Head of the Expatriates Affairs File at the Embassy; and a number of students participating in the training program. The meeting reviewed the University’s experience in sending students to the United Kingdom for advanced summer training, particularly at the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol), in fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the development of modern scientific and technological skills, contributing to enhancing their academic and practical experience and preparing them for future requirements. The two sides also discussed prospects for expanding academic and research cooperation between Iraqi universities and their British counterparts, exchanging expertise, and creating broader opportunities for students and teaching staff to benefit from the scientific and academic resources available in the United Kingdom. Ambassador Al-Tamimi affirmed the Embassy’s and Cultural Mission’s support for academic initiatives that contribute to developing the capabilities of Iraqi students and strengthening the openness of Iraqi universities to global scientific institutions and centers, in a way that serves the advancement of higher education and scientific research.
