Prof. Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the IAU–EAIE Internationalisation Leadership Dialogue, which commenced on 8 September 2026 at the Sir Jim McDonald Centre for Engineering and Innovation at the prestigious University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The event brought together higher education leaders and experts to discuss the formulation of higher education strategies and the expansion of international academic partnerships amid current global challenges and the ongoing digital transformation.
The participation came in response to a high-level invitation from the International Association of Universities (IAU) and the European Association for International Education (EAIE). The dialogue was officially opened by Dr. Hilligje van’t Land, Secretary General of the IAU, and Mr. Mervyn Baker, Chief Executive Officer of the EAIE.
The programme featured a keynote address delivered by Sir Anton Muscatelli, President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, who presented the VUCA Prime leadership model for university governance, emphasizing resilience, vision, understanding, clarity, and agility in addressing contemporary challenges. His presentation also examined emerging trends in international student recruitment and global higher education mobility.
During the event, Prof. Hassan Shaker Magdy actively participated in a series of roundtable discussions focused on reimagining curricula and exploring the role of artificial intelligence in academic mobility. He also held a special meeting with Dr. Hilligje van’t Land, during which he presented her with a commemorative shield symbolizing Iraq’s rich cultural heritage and ancient civilization, while discussing prospects for future cooperation and collaboration between Al-Mustaqbal University and international higher education institutions.
This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening its international engagement, expanding strategic academic partnerships, and contributing to global discussions on the future of higher education and digital innovation.
