As part of the English Department’s commitment to developing student activities and strengthening their role in supporting students’ skills, the Department’s Committee for Student and Academic Activities and the Government Program held a meeting to discuss the strategic planning document for activities for the academic year 2026–2027 and the mechanisms for implementing it within an integrated annual plan. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Salam Hassan Makki and attended by Dr. Mamoun Sami, Ms. Tabarak Aqeel Dawood, and Mr. Adam Samir Ali. The participants discussed the vision and general objectives of the plan, as well as the mechanisms for organizing activities in line with the directions of the Department and the University and the needs of students. The plan aims to transform student activities from their traditional format into a more practice-based learning approach focused on developing academic and professional skills. This will be achieved through integrated pathways covering language and communication, literature and culture, education and the future, while adopting mechanisms for documentation, evaluation, impact measurement, and sustainability. The participants emphasized the importance of making student activities an effective space for learning, expression, and participation. Such activities are expected to contribute to the development of students’ skills and strengthen their academic and professional presence, thereby supporting the creation of a more interactive university environment. The meeting comes as part of the Department’s preparations for the new academic year and is in line with its annual identity and strategic vision.
