Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the University commemorated the International Day of Charity, observed annually on September 5, by organizing a scientific workshop aimed at promoting a culture of giving, volunteering, and social responsibility, while highlighting the role of academic institutions in serving society and supporting humanitarian initiatives. The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, along with a number of college deans, department and unit directors, and university staff. The event opened with a speech on behalf of the University Presidency, delivered by Dr. Al-Zuhairi on behalf of the University President. He emphasized the importance of promoting humanitarian and charitable values and strengthening a culture of volunteering and initiative, in line with the University’s mission of building individuals and serving society. The program included a presentation by Mr. Khalid Kadhim Al-Salihi, Director of the Sustainable Development Division, who discussed charitable work as a form of human solidarity, highlighting its role in reducing need, strengthening social cohesion, and empowering young people. He also emphasized the importance of moving from short-term assistance toward organized and sustainable initiatives with long-term impact. The workshop also highlighted Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to utilize education, knowledge, and scientific research to serve society, encourage students and staff to participate in humanitarian and volunteer initiatives, and establish effective partnerships with community institutions. The workshop emphasized that the value of charitable work is not limited to the amount of assistance provided, but rather lies in the positive impact it creates in the lives of others. It also highlighted the potential to transform students’ skills and academic knowledge into humanitarian initiatives that contribute to sustainable change. The event concluded by reaffirming the University’s commitment to promoting social responsibility and strengthening the values of giving, solidarity, and volunteering, while transforming humanitarian occasions into meaningful opportunities to launch initiatives and build partnerships that contribute to serving society and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
