Al-Mustaqbal University Celebrates World Charity Day and Promotes a Culture of Sustainable Giving

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the University organized a scientific workshop to mark World Charity Day, observed annually on September 5. The workshop aimed to promote a culture of giving and volunteering, strengthen the values of social responsibility, and highlight the role of academic institutions in supporting humanitarian initiatives and serving the community. The workshop was attended by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, along with several deans of colleges, heads of departments and units, and university staff members. The event opened with a speech on behalf of the University Presidency, delivered by Dr. Al-Zuhairi on behalf of the University President. He emphasized the importance of promoting the values of charitable and humanitarian work, encouraging a culture of volunteering and initiative, and reinforcing the University's mission of building individuals, raising social awareness, and contributing effectively to community service. The workshop's program included a scientific presentation delivered by Mr. Khalid Kadhim Al-Salihi, Director of the Sustainable Development Division. The presentation addressed charitable work as one of the key forms of human solidarity and highlighted its role in reducing hardship, strengthening social cohesion, and empowering young people. It also emphasized the importance of moving beyond short-term assistance toward more organized, sustainable, and impactful initiatives capable of creating long-term positive change. The presentation also highlighted Al-Mustaqbal University's efforts to harness education, knowledge, and scientific research in the service of society, while encouraging students and staff to participate in volunteer and humanitarian initiatives. It further emphasized the importance of developing effective partnerships with community institutions to expand the scope of such initiatives and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The workshop affirmed that the true value of charitable work is measured not only by the amount of assistance provided, but also by the positive change it creates in the lives of individuals and communities. It emphasized that students' talents and academic knowledge represent valuable resources that can be transformed into innovative initiatives capable of generating sustainable impact. The event concluded by reaffirming Al-Mustaqbal University's commitment to strengthening social responsibility and promoting the values of giving, solidarity, and volunteering.
