Al-Mustaqbal University has continued to strengthen its presence in the global research landscape, recording the indexing of 21 new scientific papers in the Scopus database during the period from August 21 to 27, 2026, according to a comprehensive bibliometric and statistical analysis conducted by the University of its weekly research output.
The President of Al-Mustaqbal University indicated that the data analysis showed that 76.2% of the publications, totaling 16 papers, were published through open-access models, including Gold, Hybrid, and Green, contributing to greater international visibility and increasing opportunities for access and citation.
The analysis also revealed that the average number of researchers involved in each paper reached 7.29 researchers, reflecting the growing size of research teams and the expansion of collaborative scientific work.
The medical field ranked first among the disciplines, with 9 publications, followed by Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology with 7 publications, Engineering with 5 publications, and Computer Science with 4 publications. The research output also covered fields including Materials Science, Nursing, Energy, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Social Sciences.
At the level of international research collaboration, the University's researchers co-authored scientific papers with researchers from 10 countries. Egypt, Iran, and Saudi Arabia ranked first, with three papers each, followed by China, Jordan, Pakistan, and Türkiye, in addition to Hungary, India, and Malaysia.
The University also continued to strengthen its local research partnerships with the Universities of Babylon, Karbala, Kufa, and Jaber Ibn Hayyan, alongside international partnerships with University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Wenzhou-Kean University, Taif University, and Khazar University.
The indexed research papers were published by several leading international and academic publishers, including Nature Research, Elsevier, and Frontiers Media, in addition to regional academic publishers.
These results reflect the growing research activity at Al-Mustaqbal University and the expanding scope of local and international scientific collaboration. They further contribute to strengthening the presence of Iraqi academic research in global research databases and indexing platforms, while supporting the University's commitment to advancing scientific research and contributing to knowledge and sustainable development.
