As part of the College of Health and Medical Technologies’ commitment to strengthening the practical education of its students and integrating academic knowledge with professional practice, the Department of Optics Techniques conducted a field visit to Al-Hashimiyah General Hospital to follow up on the department’s students participating in the Summer Training Program. The visit was supervised by Mr. Hamza Nader Abdul-Aoun and Ms. Zahraa Abbas. The visit included a meeting with the staff responsible for the Optics Unit at the hospital, where the training process was reviewed and the students’ practical performance was followed up. The visiting team also observed the students during their training and gained insight into the professional duties they undertake, as well as the optical and vision care services provided to patients. During the visit, emphasis was placed on the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical training in the students’ professional preparation. The students were also encouraged to maintain regular attendance, discipline, and compliance with the approved training guidelines throughout the program, while making the most of the practical expertise and professional skills provided by the specialized hospital staff. The follow-up team commended the high level of cooperation and attention demonstrated by the specialized staff of the hospital’s Optics Unit, as well as their commitment to supervising and guiding the students appropriately. Such support contributes significantly to developing the students’ professional competencies and enhancing their ability to apply theoretical knowledge within a clinical work environment. At the conclusion of the visit, the Summer Training Committee confirmed that field follow-up of the students will continue during the upcoming period to assess the extent of their benefit from the training program, identify their needs, and address any challenges they may encounter, thereby supporting the achievement of the academic and professional objectives of the Summer Training Program.
