Al-Mustaqbal University Explores Academic and Professional Partnerships with UC Davis

Al-Mustaqbal University explored, on August 29, 2026, with representatives of the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), prospects for advancing academic and professional cooperation across several vital fields. The meeting focused on expanding international partnerships and strengthening educational and research programs. The two sides discussed cooperation in professional and continuing education, energy, applied agriculture, engineering, and modern technologies. They also reviewed international models in education, training, and capacity building, while exploring opportunities to develop joint academic programs, activate academic and scientific exchange, and enhance prospects for international accreditation. The meeting also addressed several strategic areas, including the development of smart grids for dry environments, the application of agrivoltaics, waste-to-biofuel conversion, and the development of the green campus concept. The participants further discussed the possibility of benefiting from the Zero Net Energy (ZNE) campus experience and applying relevant practices at Al-Mustaqbal University. The meeting forms part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to expand its network of international partnerships, align its academic programs with labor market needs, and support innovation, scientific research, and sustainable development applications. These efforts are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Al-Mustaqbal University is the leading private university in Iraq, and this collaboration reflects its commitment to strengthening its international academic presence and developing an educational and research environment that promotes innovation and sustainability. Research collaboration opportunities are also expected to be explored separately by faculty members from both sides, contributing to the exchange of expertise and knowledge and opening new avenues for joint scientific and research cooperation.
