Al-Mustaqbal University explored prospects for academic and professional cooperation with representatives of the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), during a meeting held to discuss opportunities for developing international partnerships in the fields of continuing and professional education, energy, applied agriculture, engineering, and modern technologies. The meeting included a review of international cooperation models in education, training, and capacity building, as well as discussions on developing joint academic programs, promoting academic and scientific exchange, and enhancing opportunities for international accreditation. The two sides also discussed several strategic areas, including smart grids for dry environments, agrivoltaics, the conversion of waste into biofuel, and the development of the green campus concept. The discussions also addressed the possibility of transferring the Zero Net Energy (ZNE) campus experience to Al-Mustaqbal University. The meeting comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to expand its international partnerships and strengthen the connection between its academic programs and labor market needs, while supporting innovation and sustainable development. These efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 7 on Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first among private universities in Iraq, reflecting its commitment to strengthening its international academic presence and developing an educational and research environment that supports innovation and sustainability. Research cooperation opportunities will be discussed separately between faculty members from both sides, with the aim of expanding scientific collaboration and facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge.
