Chaired by the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, the University Council held its twelfth session for the 2025–2026 academic year, attended by Council members, to review academic, scientific, and administrative performance throughout the year, highlight major achievements, and establish priorities for the 2026–2027 academic year.
During the session, the University President emphasized that the achievements recorded throughout the academic year were the result of collective institutional efforts across the university. He commended faculty members, staff, and students for their important contributions to the university’s continued academic development and growing presence.
He highlighted several significant milestones achieved during the year, including progress in scientific research and national and international rankings, institutional and programme accreditation obtained by a number of academic units, and the university’s receipt of an **Erasmus+ programme grant**, which has expanded opportunities for international academic cooperation and partnerships.
The President also highlighted the university’s scientific and academic events and initiatives throughout the year, as well as its community-oriented programmes aimed at strengthening its contribution to society and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
The session was attended by Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Khafaji, Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate – Babil Branch, who congratulated the University President and Council on receiving the **Erasmus+ grant** and expressed his appreciation for the university’s academic and scientific standing.
The meeting also explored several areas of cooperation between the university and the syndicate, including the appointment of syndicate representatives within the university’s colleges and cooperation in announcing employment opportunities for holders of higher academic degrees. These efforts aim to strengthen links between academic and professional institutions and support qualified academic talent.
The Council also discussed priorities for the upcoming stage, particularly early preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year and the completion of all academic, technical, and administrative requirements to ensure an organized and effective start to the new academic year.
The University President further emphasized the importance of continuing to develop academic curricula and programmes in line with labour-market developments, adopting modern teaching methods, activating industrial advisory councils, and benefiting from international experiences and academic partnerships to enhance the quality of teaching and research.
The session included presentations and reports addressing key areas of institutional performance. Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, presented an overview of student affairs, while Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Academic Supervisor, reviewed the university’s scientific and academic performance. The activities of the Continuing Education Center and the performance of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department were also presented.
The University Council concluded its session by discussing the items on the agenda and adopting the necessary decisions and recommendations, in line with the university’s commitment to institutional development, maintaining the quality of its academic outcomes, and strengthening its position as an institution dedicated to excellence and leadership at both the national and international levels.
