President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, held discussions with Iraqi Members of Parliament Dr. Habib Al-Hilawi and Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, Member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, on key issues concerning the future of higher education in Iraq, with a particular focus on academic quality and strengthening institutional standards. The meeting addressed a number of priority issues in the higher education sector, including the development of academic environments, enhancement of educational services, and strengthening the position of Iraqi universities locally and internationally. The discussions also emphasized the importance of expanding academic cooperation with prestigious international universities. Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi presented aspects of Al-Mustaqbal University’s experience in international partnerships, joint academic programmes, twinning initiatives, and academic hosting programmes with leading global universities. He emphasized the importance of such programmes in developing academic and scientific capabilities and enhancing the quality of university education. Dr. Habib Al-Hilawi praised the scientific and academic standing achieved by Al-Mustaqbal University, describing it as one of the important academic institutions in Babil Governorate. He also highlighted the university’s contribution to the local community through providing employment opportunities for more than 2,000 citizens from the governorate, reflecting its significant role in supporting social and economic development and reducing unemployment. Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, Member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, stressed that strengthening higher education requires coordinated efforts between public and private institutions. He noted that Al-Mustaqbal University’s achievements, including success rates exceeding 90% in the evaluative examinations across most academic subjects, demonstrate a high level of academic quality and institutional performance. Prof. Dr. Al-Masoudi also praised the university’s international twinning, academic hosting, and cooperation programmes for their contribution to strengthening academic openness and facilitating the exchange of expertise with international educational institutions. Concluding the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi reaffirmed Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to continuously developing its academic and infrastructure standards and strengthening cooperation with national institutions and legislative and executive authorities, contributing to the advancement of higher education and enhancing the university’s role in serving society and supporting sustainable development.
