In a new scientific achievement that reflects its distinguished position on the global research landscape, Al-Mustaqbal University has further strengthened its academic presence by achieving remarkable milestones in research productivity, according to the latest data released by the Scopus database, updated as of July 8, 2026.
The statistics revealed that the University published 458 new scientific papers since the beginning of 2026, bringing its total number of Scopus-indexed publications to 6,622. This accomplishment underscores the University’s sustained research momentum and its continued commitment to producing high-quality scientific knowledge. In addition, the University’s H-index increased to 92, highlighting the growing global impact of its research and the increasing number of citations received by its scholarly publications.
Quality Beyond Quantity
The University’s achievement extends beyond the volume of research output to the quality of its publications. According to the latest figures, 70.7% of the research published during the first half of 2026 appeared in Q1 and Q2 journals, while 91.7% was published in Q1–Q3 journals. These results reflect the University’s unwavering commitment to publishing in internationally recognized, high-impact journals that adhere to the highest standards of scientific quality and peer review.
Research Driving Sustainable Impact
As part of its academic mission and societal responsibility, Al-Mustaqbal University continues to make significant contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The University has produced 4,350 publications linked to the SDGs, with Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) leading the list with 1,109 publications, followed by Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) with 1,017 publications. These achievements demonstrate the University’s commitment to addressing global health, environmental, and developmental challenges through impactful scientific research.
On this occasion, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, stated that these achievements are the result of the University’s strategic vision to foster a culture of research excellence and innovation, as well as the outstanding efforts of its faculty members and researchers across all colleges and research centers. He emphasized that the University will continue to strengthen its academic and research environment, expand its global presence in international rankings, and produce high-quality research that serves society, supports national development, and further establishes Al-Mustaqbal University as one of Iraq’s leading institutions in scientific research and academic excellence.
