On the sidelines of the activities and presentations of the UK–Iraq Academic Bridge Initiative, held at Al-Mustaqbal University on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, met with the Executive Director of the British Council in Iraq, Dr. Richard Sanderson, to discuss launching and activating a package of joint international academic cooperation initiatives. The meeting, attended by the Academic Supervisor of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, featured in-depth discussions on mechanisms to activate the development initiative introduced by the British Council, and to formulate its implementation plans in full alignment with the university’s strategic vision of internationalizing education and enhancing the quality of academic outcomes and programs. The bilateral talks focused on expanding partnership opportunities between Al-Mustaqbal University and leading UK educational institutions, with particular emphasis on activating cultural and academic exchange programs, establishing direct communication channels with British universities, and developing and supporting English language centers at the university in accordance with the highest international standards and accreditations overseen by the British Council, with the aim of strengthening the linguistic and research capabilities of both faculty and students. The meeting was marked by a distinguished interactive atmosphere, where this collaboration was formally affirmed through a bilateral handshake symbolizing the depth of academic ties. Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi presented a commemorative shield in recognition of the British Council’s efforts and its continued support for the educational journey, in the presence of Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi. This initiative represents a significant step that adds to the series of recent achievements of Al-Mustaqbal University in building international partnerships and engaging with prestigious global educational institutions.
