Assistant Lecturer Russul Mushtaq Talib, from the Department of Community Health Techniques, College of Health and Medical Technologies, prepared and organized a scientific awareness article entitled "Muharram and Health Awareness: How Do Religious Occasions Contribute to Building Healthy Community Behaviors?"
The article highlighted the importance of utilizing religious occasions as effective platforms for promoting health awareness and reinforcing positive behaviors that support both individual and community health. It emphasized that the holy month of Muharram represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen public health awareness through the humanitarian and ethical values embodied in the Karbala event, including social responsibility, solidarity, altruism, and community service.
The article also discussed the role of religious gatherings in disseminating health education messages related to personal hygiene, food safety, prevention of communicable diseases, mental health promotion, voluntary blood donation, and community engagement.
Furthermore, it underscored the significant role of community health specialists in integrating evidence-based health education with religious and cultural values to enhance public acceptance of health messages and encourage healthier lifestyles. The article concluded by emphasizing the importance of collaboration between academic, health, and religious institutions in building a healthier, more informed, and sustainable society.
