Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in cooperation with the Holy Hussaini Shrine, the University organized the ceremony of raising the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on Saturday, June 20, 2026, marking the beginning of the holy month of Muharram 1448 AH. The event reflects the University's commitment to commemorating religious occasions and promoting authentic Islamic and humanitarian values within the academic community. The ceremony was attended by the University President, vice presidents, the Director of the Diwan Affairs Department, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, college deans, and a number of faculty members and staff. The event was also attended by Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Khafaji, Head of the Academics Syndicate – Babylon Branch. This event forms part of the University's annual cultural and religious programs, which aim to reinforce the noble principles embodied by the blessed Hussaini movement, including sacrifice, reform, justice, and adherence to truth. It also seeks to draw inspiration from these values in promoting social awareness and strengthening ethical and humanitarian responsibility. The University affirmed that commemorating the holy month of Muharram provides an opportunity to remember the immortal stance of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions, and the great sacrifices they made in defense of principles and human values. Such occasions contribute to fostering a culture of tolerance, solidarity, and social cohesion. The ceremony concluded with prayers to Almighty God to make this blessed month a source of love, unity, and mutual support among members of society, and to preserve Iraq and its people with lasting security, stability, and peace.
