Introduction Remote sensing technologies have witnessed remarkable development over the past decades, and digital multi-spectral images have become one of the most important tools used to study the Earth's surface and natural phenomena. These images are characterized by their ability to provide detailed information that cannot be obtained from conventional images, making them highly significant in many scientific and practical applications. Concept of Multi-Spectral Images Multi-Spectral Images are defined as images obtained by recording information within several different spectral bands using specialized sensors. The sensitivity function of these sensors is distributed across a range of wavelengths, allowing them to capture data beyond the limits of human vision. These images include information within the Visible Spectrum as well as additional information within the Infrared Spectrum, contributing to the accurate identification of the properties of various objects and materials. Data Acquisition Process Multi-spectral images are captured using satellites or advanced sensing devices, where data are typically collected through four to seven spectral bands. These bands are distributed as follows: One to three bands fall within the visible spectrum. The remaining bands are located within the infrared region. This spectral diversity enables the analysis of Earth's surface components and the discrimination of different natural phenomena. Importance of Multi-Spectral Images These images offer several advantages, including: Providing information that cannot be perceived by the human eye. Improving the accuracy of environmental and natural phenomenon analysis. Distinguishing between different types of vegetation, soils, and water resources. Assisting in monitoring environmental changes and natural disasters. Producing accurate maps to support scientific studies.
