Al-Mustaqbal University Ranked First Among Iraqi Private Universities and Third Nationally in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2026–2027

The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, announced that the university has achieved a new academic milestone by ranking first among Iraqi private universities and third among all Iraqi universities in the U.S. News & World Report – Best Global Universities Rankings 2026–2027, one of the world's leading higher education ranking systems. According to the latest edition of the rankings, which included eight Iraqi universities, the University of Sulaimani ranked first nationally, followed by the University of Baghdad, while Al-Mustaqbal University secured third place, making it the highest-ranked private university in Iraq. At the Asian level, the university achieved the 568th position and demonstrated strong performance across several scientific disciplines, ranking 771st globally in Chemistry, 666th in Engineering, 696th in Materials Science, and 632nd in Physical Chemistry. The U.S. News rankings are based on a comprehensive set of academic and research performance indicators, including global and regional research reputation, publication quality, research impact, citation performance, international collaboration, and subject-specific excellence, using data from Clarivate Analytics. This achievement reflects Al-Mustaqbal University's continuous progress in research, innovation, and academic development through supporting researchers, enhancing international scientific publishing, and investing in advanced academic and research infrastructure in line with global standards. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy congratulated the university's faculty members, staff, and students, emphasizing that this accomplishment is the result of institutional teamwork, strategic planning, and sustained support for academic and research activities. He noted that the achievement further strengthens the university's position on the global higher education map.
