As part of its ongoing efforts to expand international partnerships and strengthen collaboration with leading global academic institutions, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the prestigious University of Reading in the United Kingdom. The signing ceremony and accompanying discussions were attended by Professor Qusai Al-Ahmadi, the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom. The British side was represented by a distinguished academic and administrative delegation, including: Professor Elizabeth Allen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Head of the Global Engagement Academy at the University of Reading. Professor Keiichi Nakata, Professor of Social Informatics and Director of the Informatics Research Centre at Henley Business School. Mr. Alex Boughton, Director of Global Engagement and Executive Assistant to the Director of External Relations. Ms. Irem Ozsoy, Senior Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment. Prospects for Joint Cooperation The signed Letter of Intent aims to establish new avenues for academic, scientific, and research collaboration between the two universities. Its main areas of focus include: Joint Academic Programs: Exploring mechanisms for establishing Double Degree and Progression Degree programs through academic partnerships. Scholarships and Student Support: Discussing the provision of scholarships and tuition discounts for students. Scientific Research: Identifying opportunities for joint research projects, knowledge exchange, academic collaboration, and mutual research initiatives between the two institutions. On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the British delegation as a symbol of the strong academic ties and the promising partnership between the two universities. In a supportive gesture toward Iraqi students pursuing higher education abroad, Professor Qusai Al-Ahmadi and the President of Al-Mustaqbal University met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading in front of the University’s Central Library. During the meeting, they discussed the students’ academic progress, listened to their needs and aspirations, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in order to contribute to the development of Iraq. This initiative forms part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ambitious strategy to strengthen its position on the international higher education landscape and to provide outstanding academic and research opportunities for its students and faculty members.
