As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance international partnerships and engage with prestigious global academic institutions, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the renowned University of Reading in the United Kingdom. The signing ceremony and discussions were attended by high-level officials, including the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom, Professor Qusay Al-Ahmadi. The British side was represented by a distinguished academic and administrative delegation comprising: Professor Elizabeth Allen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Head of the Global Engagement Academy at the University of Reading. Professor Keiichi Nakata, Professor of Social Informatics and Director of the Informatics Research Centre at Henley Business School. Mr. Alex Boughton, Director of Global Engagement and Executive Assistant to the Director of External Relations. Ms. Irem Ozsoy, Senior Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment. Areas of Future Collaboration The signed agreement aims to open new avenues for scientific, academic, and research cooperation between the two universities. Its key objectives include: Joint Academic Programs: Exploring mechanisms for establishing double-degree and academic progression programs. Scholarships and Student Support: Discussing opportunities to provide scholarships and tuition discounts for students. Scientific Research: Identifying opportunities for collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and joint academic projects between the two institutions. On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the British delegation as a symbol of the strong bilateral academic relationship and this promising partnership. In a supportive gesture toward Iraqi scholars abroad, the Iraqi delegation, represented by Professor Qusay Al-Ahmadi and the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading in front of the university’s central library. The meeting aimed to follow up on their academic progress, listen to their needs, and encourage them to continue striving for excellence in service of their country.
