As part of its ongoing efforts to expand its international partnerships and strengthen engagement with prestigious global academic institutions, Al-Mustaqbal University signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the University of Reading, United Kingdom, during an official visit by the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy. The signing ceremony and accompanying discussions were attended by the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Qusai Al-Ahmadi, alongside a high-level academic and administrative delegation from the University of Reading. The delegation included Professor Elizabeth Allen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Relations and Head of the Global Academy; Professor Keiichi Nakata, Professor of Social Informatics and Director of the Informatics Research Centre at Henley Business School; Mr. Alex Boughton, Director of Global Engagement and Executive Assistant to the Director of External Relations; and Ms. Irem Ozsoy, Senior Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment. The Memorandum of Understanding aims to strengthen academic, scientific, and research collaboration between the two universities through the development of joint academic programs, including Double Degree and Progression Degree pathways, providing students with high-quality educational opportunities that align with international academic standards. The discussions also addressed mechanisms for offering scholarships and admission facilitation for outstanding students, as well as enhancing cooperation in joint research activities through collaborative research projects, knowledge exchange among faculty members and researchers, and the organization of scientific events and academic activities that contribute to advancing the educational and research capabilities of both institutions. On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the two parties as a symbol of the strong academic ties and mutual commitment to expanding future collaboration. The President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the Iraqi Cultural Attaché also met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading, listening to their academic experiences and needs while emphasizing the importance of academic excellence and their future role in serving Iraq through the knowledge and expertise they acquire. This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic vision to strengthen its global presence and expand partnerships with leading international universities, contributing to the advancement of higher education quality, research excellence, and sustainable development goals.
