Al-Mustaqbal University Receives International Recognition in Green Economy and Digital Transformation

Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked first among private universities in Iraq, received a prestigious international recognition from UNESCO – Iraq Office in cooperation with the European Union on May 27, during a specialized workshop held in Erbil, with broad participation from academic institutions and international organizations concerned with sustainable development and digital innovation. This recognition came in appreciation of the university’s outstanding contributions to the fields of green economy and digital transformation. The University President and the Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their efforts in promoting sustainability concepts and advancing digital transformation in higher education. This achievement reflects the university’s significant scientific efforts and active participation, which have contributed to tangible progress in sustainability and innovation projects, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 13 (Climate Action). The workshop witnessed praise from representatives of UNESCO and the European Union, who highlighted the university’s leading role in developing sustainable academic initiatives and employing modern technologies to support the green economy. Al-Mustaqbal University was distinguished as the only academic institution honored during the workshop, reflecting its advanced position and leadership in adopting sustainability and innovation programs in Iraq. On the sidelines of the event, coordination was announced for an upcoming visit by UNESCO representatives to the university, aiming to strengthen mutual cooperation and expand prospects for academic and scientific partnerships.
