The Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized an awareness campaign entitled “Violence Against Women: Causes, Effects, and Prevention Methods” on Tuesday, 19/5/2026, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division, at the Humanitarian Building, with the attendance of a number of lecturers and students. The campaign aimed to raise community awareness about violence against women and highlight its psychological and social causes, as well as its negative effects on individuals, families, and society. It also focused on preventive methods and the legal and social approaches to reducing this phenomenon. The campaign included several awareness topics addressing the importance of supporting and empowering women, promoting a culture of respect and equality, and emphasizing the role of educational institutions in strengthening humanitarian values and rejecting all forms of violence and discrimination. The event also witnessed remarkable interaction from the attendees through discussions and questions, reflecting the interest of students and lecturers in social and humanitarian issues. The Deanship of the College of Science and the Presidency of the Department of Biochemistry affirmed their commitment to organizing scientific and awareness activities that contribute to enhancing community awareness and developing students’ humanitarian culture, praising the fruitful cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division in organizing meaningful events. This campaign comes within the efforts of Al-Mustaqbal University to support academic and community activities and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to gender equality, quality education, and the promotion of psychological and social well-being. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
