Al-Mustaqbal University Launches Strategic Efforts to Build an Innovation Ecosystem and Advance Toward a Productive University

Al-Mustaqbal University held its second meeting on May 16, 2026, dedicated to developing the university’s future vision aimed at supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and advancing the transformation toward a productive university model. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, President of the University, and attended by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, along with directors of research centers and departments at the university presidency, as well as a number of faculty members and relevant staff. At the beginning of the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of transforming from the traditional university concept into a productive university, noting that modern universities are no longer limited to providing knowledge only, but are now required to generate and invest knowledge in ways that contribute to economic growth and sustainable development. He added that Al-Mustaqbal University possesses advanced scientific and human capabilities that qualify it to play a pioneering role in this field. He explained that achieving this vision requires integrated efforts from university leaders, faculty members, employees, and students through the formation of scientific, administrative, and service teams working simultaneously within clear strategic pathways to accomplish the university’s goals in innovation, entrepreneurship, and institutional sustainability. The University President also stressed the importance of supporting applied scientific research and directing it toward providing practical solutions to challenges facing different sectors. He emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships with industrial, service, and productive institutions by activating industrial advisory councils within colleges, thereby ensuring alignment between educational outcomes, labor market needs, and national development goals. The meeting also included a presentation of the university’s future vision regarding institutional transformation mechanisms and the enhancement of a university environment that nurtures creativity and innovation, in line with modern global trends in higher education. For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision presented a working paper addressing the main pillars of the future strategic plan. These included promoting a culture of innovation within the university’s colleges, developing infrastructure and research laboratories, providing logistical and financial support for entrepreneurial projects, updating academic curricula to incorporate modern entrepreneurship concepts, achieving financial sustainability, and transitioning toward a productive university model, in addition to reviewing key performance indicators for the coming period. The meeting witnessed extensive discussions and interventions by directors of centers and departments, during which several developmental ideas and proposals were presented that could serve as a foundation for future entrepreneurial projects contributing to strengthening the university’s academic and developmental standing. At the conclusion of the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation among colleges, research centers, and relevant departments, reaffirming the university presidency’s full support for all qualitative initiatives that contribute to achieving the university’s strategic goals. He also stressed that students represent a central pillar and an active partner in the process of development, innovation, and transformation within the university.
