The Forensic Evidence Department at the College of Science at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an awareness campaign titled “The White Cane” on Wednesday, 13/5/2026, throughout the corridors of Al-Mustaqbal University, with the participation of a number of department students, aiming to enhance community awareness about the rights of visually impaired individuals and to introduce the importance of the white cane as a symbol of independence and safety for the blind. The campaign aimed to spread a culture of respect and support for blind and visually impaired individuals, as well as to educate students on the proper humane ways of dealing with them and providing assistance when needed, thereby promoting the values of cooperation and solidarity within the university community. The campaign included various awareness activities throughout the university corridors, including the distribution of educational brochures and explanations of the significance of the white cane and its importance in facilitating the movement of blind individuals, in addition to providing guidance on mechanisms for supporting visually impaired individuals and integrating them positively and effectively into society. The campaign was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Bushra Hussein Atiya and Assistant Lecturer Mays Adi Mohammed, who emphasized the importance of enhancing community awareness regarding the rights of people with special needs and the role of educational institutions in promoting the principles of humanity and mutual respect among members of society. The campaign also witnessed remarkable interaction from students, who showed great interest in the information and humanitarian messages included in the campaign, emphasizing the importance of supporting blind individuals and providing a university environment that considers their needs and contributes to enhancing their integration into society. The Forensic Evidence Department affirmed its continued commitment to organizing awareness and humanitarian campaigns that contribute to spreading community culture and promoting the values of cooperation and tolerance in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the university’s vision of building a conscious and humane university community.
