Academic and Research Participation of the Optics Techniques Department in the International Sustainable Development Conference

Assistant Lecturer Mohaimen Samir Aref, a faculty member in the Optics Techniques Department, accompanied by the student Sajjad Abbas Abdullah, participated in the activities of the First Sustainable Development Conference held at Tikrit University from 13–14/5/2026, with wide participation from researchers, academics, and specialists from and outside Iraq. Their participation came as researchers within the scientific sessions of the conference, in addition to their active participation in the Patent Exhibition, which included a variety of scientific innovations from different departments and specializations. These innovations focused on presenting solutions and ideas that support the Sustainable Development Goals and contribute to addressing scientific and societal challenges. The conference also featured the attendance of international and local speakers and experts who discussed the most prominent issues related to sustainable development, in addition to presenting several scientific projects and innovations aimed at supporting creativity and scientific research. This participation reflects the commitment of the Optics Techniques Department to enhancing the presence of its staff and students in scientific and academic forums and to engaging with modern research experiences, contributing to the development of scientific and research skills and the promotion of a culture of innovation. This participation is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 related to Quality Education and Goal 9 concerning Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, through supporting scientific research and encouraging young talents toward creativity and active scientific participation.
