The Department of Optics Techniques at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an educational awareness seminar on Tuesday, 5/5/2026, in celebration of the World Contact Lens Day. The seminar was held under the sponsorship and supervision of the Head of the Department of Optics Techniques, Assistant Professor Dr. Mundhir Sameen Shukr, and followed up by Assistant Lecturer Muhaimen Samir Aref and Assistant Lecturer Fatima Haider Jasim, with the participation of the Department of Cosmetology and Laser. The activity was conducted within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals aimed at promoting health and scientific awareness among students. The seminar highlighted the importance of the proper use of contact lenses and provided a range of important advice and guidelines regarding the safe use of different types of contact lenses, especially soft lenses. It also addressed the cases and environments in which the use of contact lenses should be avoided to preserve eye health and safety. This activity was organized in coordination and cooperation with the Presidency of the Department of Cosmetology and Laser, with the participation of the female teaching staff from both departments, as part of strengthening scientific and awareness-based collaboration among academic departments and striving to organize more educational activities that serve college students and spread health awareness among them. The seminar was held in accordance with the directives of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker, which emphasize the importance of spreading scientific and health awareness among students in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 related to Good Health and Well-being and Goal 4 related to Quality Education. Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in Iraq.
