The Department of Cybersecurity Engineering Technologies at the Engineering Technical College of Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, organized on 4-5-2026 an awareness event for children entitled “Digital Safety Begins in Childhood,” as part of its social responsibility in spreading digital awareness and strengthening cybersecurity concepts among younger generations. The event included the distribution of brochures and educational story materials emphasizing that awareness of digital safety should begin in the early years of childhood. These materials addressed several issues children may encounter while using the internet, including the risks of suspicious links, the importance of not sharing personal or confidential information with others, awareness of cyberbullying, and the need to regulate screen time to avoid excessive use of electronic devices. The publications also encouraged children to seek help from their parents or guardians whenever they face any unsafe situation or problem online. This initiative was presented in a simple and interactive style appropriate for the targeted age group, aiming to enhance children’s digital literacy and develop their awareness of safe and responsible technology use. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, reaffirming the pioneering role of Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, in supporting impactful educational and awareness initiatives.
