Focusing during study is one of the most important factors affecting the quality of learning and academic achievement. With the increasing number of digital distractions and the abundance of information sources, maintaining attention has become a real challenge. Therefore, in recent years, innovative methods have emerged based on research in cognitive psychology and neuroscience, aiming to improve concentration and enhance study efficiency. First: Pomodoro Technique This technique relies on dividing study time into short intervals (usually 25 minutes), followed by a short break (5 minutes). Studies have shown that this method helps the brain maintain its activity and reduces mental fatigue. It also enhances the sense of accomplishment, increasing motivation to continue. Second: Active Learning Instead of passive reading, active learning depends on interacting with the study material by asking questions, summarizing information, or teaching it to others. This method stimulates multiple areas of the brain and strengthens the retention of information in long-term memory. Third: Mindfulness Meditation Research in psychology indicates that practicing meditation for a few minutes daily helps improve attention and reduce distraction. This method trains the mind to return to the present moment, minimizing mental wandering during study. Fourth: Controlling the Study Environment The surrounding environment plays a major role in the level of concentration. Some innovative approaches include: Using apps that block digital distractions Choosing a quiet place with proper lighting Listening to natural sounds or calm music These factors contribute to creating a focus-friendly environment. Fifth: Nutrition and Sleep Cognitive performance is closely linked to physical health. Studies in working memory show that good sleep and balanced nutrition (especially foods rich in omega-3) enhance concentration and information recall. Sixth: Smart Use of Technology AI-based applications have emerged to help students manage their time, such as: Task management apps Productivity tracking tools Spaced repetition programs These tools help improve learning and reduce wasted time. Seventh: Spaced Repetition Technique This method involves reviewing information at spaced intervals rather than studying it all at once. It is closely related to how long-term memory works, helping to strengthen retention and reduce forgetting. Eighth: Mind Mapping Mind maps are an effective visual method for organizing ideas and connecting concepts. They help the brain process information holistically rather than through linear memorization, enhancing understanding and comprehension. Ninth: Interleaving Practice This technique involves mixing different topics or types of problems during study instead of focusing on one subject at a time. It improves the ability to distinguish between concepts and enhances flexible thinking. Tenth: Physical Activity Regular physical activity helps improve blood flow to the brain, increasing focus and cognitive performance. Eleventh: Teaching Others (Feynman Technique) This method involves explaining information in simple terms as if teaching someone else. It helps reveal gaps in understanding and strengthens mastery of the material. Twelfth: Setting Small and Clear Goals Breaking down large tasks into smaller, specific goals makes studying more manageable and increases motivation and productivity. Thirteenth: Reducing Multitasking Focusing on one task at a time is more effective than multitasking, which can reduce concentration and increase errors. Fourteenth: Using a Reward System Rewarding yourself after completing study tasks enhances motivation and reinforces positive study habits.
