The Department of Rehabilitation Technologies and Physiotherapy organized a scientific workshop on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, entitled “The Road to Recovery: Assessment and Treatment of Ankle Injuries.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Zaid Saad Abdul Madi on campus, with the participation of a number of faculty members and individuals interested in the sports and health fields. This event was part of the department’s efforts to enhance awareness of sports injuries and scientific approaches to managing them.
The workshop addressed one of the most common injuries in sports environments—ankle joint injuries. It aimed to provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to deal with such injuries efficiently, from the moment they occur through to recovery and a safe return to sports activities.
The workshop topics focused on both scientific and practical aspects related to ankle injuries. It included a review of the anatomical structure and functions of the joint, along with an explanation of the complex biomechanics that govern its movement. It also covered methods of assessment and diagnosis, and how to distinguish between minor sprains, ligament tears, and fractures.
In terms of first aid, the workshop emphasized the importance of rapid intervention according to scientific protocols to reduce pain, swelling, and complications. It also discussed rehabilitation programs that help restore stability and balance, in addition to presenting strategies for preventing re-injury through preventive exercises and supportive bracing methods.
This workshop comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to support applied scientific activities and promote health and sports awareness, contributing to the development of participants’ skills and the advancement of professional practices in line with the latest scientific standards.
