As part of its commitment to enhancing the quality of education and strengthening practical skills, the Department of Optics Techniques organized a distinguished scientific activity on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The activity focused on conducting a stereopsis (3D vision) test, under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Mundhir Samin Shukr, with the participation of Ms. Ghufran Sabah Tuma.
This activity aimed to highlight the importance of depth perception (stereoscopic vision) testing as a precise diagnostic tool that contributes to the early detection of binocular vision disorders. It also enhances students’ competencies in both clinical and practical aspects, keeping pace with the latest practices in the field of optical techniques.
The activity aligns with the department’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), by providing an advanced educational environment that supports hands-on learning and prepares qualified graduates capable of meeting labor market demands. It also supports Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting visual health awareness and delivering accurate diagnostic services.
The organizers emphasized that such scientific activities are essential for developing students’ skills and strengthening the integration between theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby improving academic and professional performance within the department.
