The Department of Finance and Banking Sciences at the College of Administrative Sciences organized a specialized scientific workshop on Tuesday, April 20, 2026, entitled “The Role of Technology in Achieving Sustainability.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Najlaa Salem, with the attendance of several faculty members and students.
The workshop addressed the increasing environmental and economic challenges facing societies today, highlighting the importance of adopting sustainability concepts as a fundamental necessity to ensure the continuity of resources and improve quality of life, especially in light of rapid technological advancement.
The lecturer reviewed key real-world problems faced by communities, such as energy waste and power outages, water scarcity and leakage, waste accumulation, environmental pollution, traffic congestion, and low public awareness. She explained how these issues can be addressed through innovative technological solutions.
The workshop also explored a range of practical solutions, including smart energy management systems and renewable energy sources, water leakage detection sensors and modern irrigation systems, smart sorting and recycling technologies, as well as intelligent transportation systems and air quality monitoring, in addition to digital awareness applications.
The workshop aimed to develop participants’ innovative thinking skills, enhance their ability to connect real-world problems with applicable technological solutions, and enable them to understand how to transform ideas into practical projects that contribute to sustainable development.
This workshop comes as part of the department’s efforts to promote environmental awareness and strengthen technological culture, in alignment with the college and university’s direction toward achieving sustainability and improving resource efficiency.
