As part of the activities of the Fourth Al-Mustaqbal International Sustainability Week 2026, Al-Mustaqbal University launched the “Sustainability March” initiative, attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, with wide participation from university staff and students—“Future Sustainability Ambassadors”—in a scene that reflected a firm institutional commitment to a culture of sustainability and responsible environmental action. At the outset of the event, the University President praised the large and active participation of students and staff, emphasizing that this distinguished presence demonstrates a high level of environmental awareness and institutional belonging. He noted that it reflects the university’s success in embedding sustainability concepts as a practical approach and daily behavior both on and off campus. He added that such initiatives represent a fundamental pillar in preparing a conscious generation capable of leading change toward a more balanced and sustainable future. Meanwhile, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, stated in his speech that the “Sustainability March” represents a practical application of the Sustainable Development Goals and a true translation of the path the university has pursued since 2019 in its efforts to transform into a sustainable university. He also highlighted the important role of students in spreading sustainability culture, enhancing environmental awareness, and transferring these practices to the wider community. The march included several awareness stops, during which participants were introduced to the university’s أبرز initiatives in sustainability. These included expanding green spaces, preserving biodiversity, adopting clean energy, implementing hydroponic and tissue culture farming techniques, as well as waste recycling and treatment programs, the use of modern irrigation technologies, and the promotion of green transportation practices within the campus—all contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This initiative comes as part of a series of qualitative activities carried out by Al-Mustaqbal University, reaffirming its leading role in supporting sustainable development pathways and strengthening community partnerships, in line with global trends toward building a green and innovative educational environment.
