The Optics Techniques Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled “Keratoconus: From a Visual Disorder to a Comprehensive Impact on Quality of Life.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Musab Fadl Al-Haj from the Republic of Sudan and Assistant Lecturer Ali Hadi Muaydi, in the presence of a number of faculty members and students of the department, as part of supporting the third Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-being).
The workshop aimed to highlight keratoconus as one of the significant visual disorders that directly affects visual performance and the quality of life of patients. The speakers addressed the latest scientific and diagnostic aspects, in addition to reviewing the most recent treatment approaches.
The workshop also included a discussion of the psychological and social impacts associated with the condition, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and regular follow-up to limit disease progression and improve patients’ quality of life.
During the session, the speakers stressed the importance of raising visual health awareness among students and the community, and enhancing the role of specialists in providing comprehensive care for such conditions.
The workshop witnessed notable engagement from attendees, with numerous questions and discussions that enriched the scientific dialogue and contributed to strengthening the practical understanding of the topic.
This workshop comes a series of scientific activities that the department is keen to organize to develop students’ academic and practical skills and to promote a culture of continuous learning, in line with Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision in supporting health and education.
