In line with its steadfast commitment to spreading a culture of sustainability and enhancing environmental awareness, Al-Mustaqbal University organized the "Sustainability March" on April 14, 2026. This event, held as part of the 4th International Sustainability Week, saw extensive participation from staff and students, in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi.
The event featured a distinguished turnout reflecting the level of environmental awareness and institutional belonging among the university community. In his speech, the University President emphasized the importance of embedding sustainability concepts as a practical approach and daily behavior both on and off campus, noting that such initiatives are essential steps in preparing a conscious generation capable of leading the change toward a more balanced and sustainable future.
Furthermore, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, stated that the "Sustainability March" is a practical application of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He highlighted that it continues the university's mission, established in 2019, to transition into a sustainable institution, while emphasizing the pivotal role of students in promoting environmental culture within society.
The Department of Animal Production and its students participated actively in the festivities, showcasing applied initiatives and projects that support environmental sustainability. These included sustainable animal husbandry practices, improving livestock production efficiency, and natural resource conservation. Additionally, they presented modern techniques aimed at reducing the environmental impact of animal-related activities, reflecting the department's vital role in serving the environment and community.
The march included various awareness activities highlighting the university’s major achievements in sustainability, such as expanding green spaces, adopting clean energy, and implementing modern agricultural techniques. It also featured programs for waste recycling and treatment, the use of advanced irrigation systems, and the promotion of green transportation practices within the campus.
This initiative is part of a series of specialized activities by Al-Mustaqbal University, reaffirming its pioneering role in supporting sustainable development paths, strengthening community partnerships, and consolidating an environmental culture that contributes to a more sustainable future for generations to come.
