Within the framework of its academic orientation toward supporting sustainable development issues, the College of Administrative Sciences at Al-Mustaqbal University addressed, through its Second International Scientific Conference, one of the most prominent developmental challenges in Iraq—food security amid rising poverty rates and their economic and social repercussions. This comes in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger, achieving food security, and promoting sustainable nutrition.
The conference was grounded in a scientific vision that links poverty as a key factor influencing the decline in food security levels with the cost of impact resulting from this decline across economic, health, and social dimensions. It emphasized the necessity of formulating effective responsive policies capable of enhancing food stability and achieving sustainable development.
The conference’s scientific sessions discussed the economic, administrative, and financial dimensions associated with food security in Iraq. Researchers presented in-depth analytical studies addressing the relationship between poverty and food supply chains, the challenges facing production and consumption, as well as practical solutions to improve the efficiency of the national food system.
The conference concluded with scientific recommendations emphasizing the importance of strengthening integration among economic, social, and food policies, and activating the role of scientific research in supporting decision-making. This would contribute to reducing the cost of impact and achieving tangible progress toward fulfilling Sustainable Development Goal 2 in Iraq.
